Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens for the delivery of clues on the way! CTOnews.com, June 4 (Xinhua)-- market research firm Counterpoint Research released its latest report on the smartphone application processor (AP) market from the fourth quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2023.

Data show that MediaTek dominated the smartphone application processor (AP) market in the first quarter of 2023, but declined compared with the previous quarter. Qualcomm's share once again returned to around 30%, and shipments from Apple, Ziguang and Samsung all declined.

MediaTek 32%

Qualcomm 28%

Apple 26%

Purple light shows sharp 8%

Samsung 4%

CTOnews.com noted that Huawei Hayes currently shipped less than 1% of its mobile phone AP, but Counterpoint analysts believe that Hayes may launch a new mobile phone chip this year.

MediaTek: due to inventory adjustments and weak demand, MediaTek's LTE SoC shipments are expected to fall by more than 5% in the second quarter of 2023. 5G SoC is expected to grow by less than 5%, with a slight decline overall. MediaTek's inventories are falling, so analysts expect it to rebound in the second half of 2023.

Qualcomm: Qualcomm's shipments will remain stable in the second quarter of 2023 due to reduced inventories. Inventories will return to normal within a few quarters.

Apple: due to seasonal factors, chipsets are expected to decline in the second quarter of 2023. Overall, iOS outperformed the Android market and was less affected by weak demand.

Samsung's shipments increased slightly in the second quarter of 2023. The launch of the Exynos 1330 and 1380 in the mid-to high-end and low-end markets in the first quarter will increase sales in this segment.

Ziguang's shipments will increase slightly in the second quarter of 2023. Ziguang continues to have a place in low-end models (less than $99), driven by the LTE portfolio.

Counterpoint analysts expect Huawei Hayes to ship about 2 million to 4 million units in 2023, and these will be in the mid-market.

Analysts point out that OPPO's abandonment of chip development plans is good for MediaTek and Qualcomm. It is worth mentioning that CEVA mentioned that an Android smartphone supplier will launch an internal 5G modem based on its IP around 2025, and Counterpoint thinks the company is likely to be Xiaomi.
