CTOnews.com, June 4 (Xinhua)-- Game publishers have become more transparent about game prices due to legislation in the European Union.

At present, a small number of Steam pages in the European Union show the lowest price for the game within 30 days, as well as current and discounted price tags, making it easier for buyers to make more informed decisions when using Steam to buy games.

It is reported that the regulation, called Enforcement and Modernisation Directive, has been amended on the basis of four existing directives, so it is called the "comprehensive directive" and aims to extend traditional consumer rights online.

The Consolidated Directive was first adopted in 2019 and entered into force in July last year, but it has only recently been accepted by a few countries. The legislation aims to prevent game stores from changing prices frequently, so Valve has to mark the lowest price within 30 days on the Steam page, and it is not clear whether Valve plans to promote the feature globally.

CTOnews.com warns that you can also choose to use IsThereAnyDeals, SteamDB or other third-party inquiry sites or plug-ins to view historical low prices, but EU regulations apply to all game platforms and publishers, so there will certainly be more platforms to follow and hopefully spread to more regions.

According to feedback from reddit users, this feature is only available in a few areas and seems to be in grayscale testing. Some users can see it in some interfaces, but most users don't seem to have it.
