CTOnews.com, June 4, according to a report by South Korean media koreaherald, Intel plans to set up a research laboratory in Seoul, South Korea, to promote the research and development of DRAM chips suitable for data centers by expanding cooperation with Samsung and SK Hynix.

The data center development lab in Seoul, which is responsible for developing DDR5 DRAM memory technology for the data center, will be completed and opened by the end of this year.

During the Vision 2023 event, Intel also said that it would set up six more research institutions in the United States, China, India and Mexico, mainly responsible for the research and certification of server semiconductor chips.

Intel has also expanded its cooperation with Samsung and SK Hynix to test and evaluate the performance of next-generation memory products such as DDR5 and Compute Express Link.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, SK Hynix recently announced that its fifth generation 10nm process 1bnm has been validated to meet the solution needs of the next generation DDR5 and HBM3E.

The company said Xeon Scalable was certified by Intel to support DDR5 products based on 1 billion-nanometer nodes. Samsung has also begun mass production of 16Gb DDR5 DRAM using 12nm process nodes.
