CTOnews.com, June 4 (Xinhua)-- the team at the University of Washington successfully observed the mechanical vibration between two layers of atoms through laser stimulation, which the team called "atomic breathing."

The team believes that the discovery may lead to new methods of quantum computing. Based on this discovery, the research team has designed a new construction model of quantum technology.

Mo Li, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Wisconsin, said: "this is a new atomic platform that essentially couples light and mechanical motion, known in the industry as' optomechanics'. It provides a new type of quantum effect that can be deployed in many application scenarios through single photons running in integrated optical circuits."
