With the resumption of production and supply of Kodak film, the price of film has dropped rapidly recently. although it is foreseeable that the price of cabbage will not return to 2018 or 2019, it is still acceptable to many people to restore the price of cabbage in 2018 and 2019. After all, the cost of a film is higher than that of Fuji, and it is difficult for anyone to accept it.
As the main medium of traditional photography, film has a lot of charm. however, the charm of film is inseparable from the great blessing of film camera. Compared with digital cameras with few varieties and similar performance, modern film cameras have been developed for more than 100 years. Even after modernization in the 1950s, they have developed for more than 50 years, with a wide variety of machines and a wide variety of pictures. for friends who have not come into contact with film photography, it takes a long time to study the types and brands of cameras.
In addition, the legendary brands we hear now are either dead or digital, but their glory is created in the film era, and their most classic cameras are film cameras. For example, Leica's M-series, Lulai's DSLR, Hassel's V-series SLR, if you want to truly experience the charm of these brands, you have to play with film.
Due to the underdevelopment of electronic systems in the past, various systems also showed their own powers, such as side-axis view, SLR view, double-mirror view, and so on.
In the past, the methods to improve the texture and delicacy of the picture are also different from now. Now it is mainly to improve the lens ability, pixels and processing power. Although the frame is also improved, the improvement is not much. We can see that the 44X33 sensor is already quite fierce.
In the film era, the way to improve the texture and delicacy of the picture is very rough, that is, simply increase the area of photosensitive negatives. If you can't do 120120, you can't just put on a large picture, and there are 4X5Magne5X7j8X10, and even monsters like 20X24.
Therefore, cameras with different frames emerge one after another.
For beginners playing with film cameras, I still recommend manual cameras. Manual cameras can not only make people feel the charm of film, but also help many friends to master some basic principles of photography, even for the use of digital cameras.
Among all the manual cameras, there have been four magic machines in the past, but I personally recommend two echelons of manual SLR cameras:
Professional level, Nikon F3, Pentax LX, Canon New F1
Ordinary, Nikon FM2, Nikon FM3A, Nikon FE2, Minolta X700
Let's talk about the professional level of these three first.
Nikon F3, Pentax LX and Canon New F1 are all manual professional DSLRs launched in the 1980s, and are the last generation of manual professional DSLRs. Since then, professional DSLRs have all been in autofocus.
The manual function of these three cameras is limited to focus, and exposure has been fully automated.
The operation and use of the 3 machines are almost the same, and the individual functions are different and the lens groups are different, but for the standard configuration of the novice plug-in 50max 1.4, the gap is not big. Moreover, at that time, the lens gap among Japanese lens manufacturers was not very big.
All three cameras have the ability to expand, you can replace the viewfinder, and add automatic passing motors, or even the back cover. In the film era, Nikon F3 has the largest sales and the highest evaluation, but in terms of actual performance, the three cameras are neck and neck. There is no saying that who crushes the other. The success of Nikon F3 lies in the word-of-mouth and usage habits accumulated in the Nikon F series over the past 20 years.
Among film fans, there are more Nikon F3 and Pentax LX than canon FD F1 cameras.
For the vast majority of film fans, especially beginners, we will not use the professional features of these three machines.
Canon's new F1 is relatively unpopular, and FD lenses are not expensive. The fuselage is relatively heavy, and the operation is very convenient, so it can become a unique machine, but there are fewer people in the country. If you don't believe it, you can't put it down as long as you read the Little Red Book.
The main disadvantage is that it is too heavy and the FD bayonet is not easy to operate.
Nikon F3 is called the strongest manual king by the Japanese. On the contrary, I think its problem is the most among the three cameras.
First of all, the aperture shutter prompt in the Nikon F3 viewfinder uses a liquid crystal display. Many cameras have broken this function, and even if it is not broken, the window is very small and very eye-consuming.
Secondly, the Nikon F3 is also very heavy, generally using the HP high-head viewfinder.
Another inexplicable problem with the F3 is that the general version of the F3 cannot be plugged into the flash directly, and its viewfinder is not equipped with hot boots, but through a transfer part on the fuselage. Film fans must have a flash at the back, which is really inconvenient.
So I think the specialty of F3 is mainly reflected in its stability, durability, and in that particular environment in the 1980s, it is not so legendary for beginners in film.
The Pentax LX, the lightest and smallest of the three cameras, is the only SLR built to the top standard in Asahi Optics's 135-year history. It has special sealing, real-time reflection of A file, reversal positioning and other functions.
The disadvantage of LX is the adhesion and jam caused by the aging of the parts, which needs to be cleaned before it can be used normally. LX is my personal favorite camera. I own a LX produced in 1982. I have used it for nearly 10 years. Except for the aging half of the photometric parts, everything else is so fierce that I have to lament the durability of high-standard cameras.
There is no difference between the three machines themselves, but considering the three different lenses, they can be regarded as three routes. The shots of Nikon and Pentax are common to the later DSLR, not Canon.
About 10 years ago, everyone usually started from Douban 4: Olympus OM-1, Minolta X700, Nikon FM2 and Canon AE-1. Among them, OM-1 and FM2 are mechanical cameras, X700 and AE-1 are electronic cameras.
Now it's not impossible for you to start with these four cameras, but I only extracted FM2 and X700 of these four cameras.
OM1 is not recommended mainly because its operation is unique, and OM1 as a mechanical camera, often lack of maintenance, a lot of faults, now China can maintain OM1 camera in few places, only some private craftsmen are willing to carry out routine maintenance, and the maintenance fee is basically enough for you to buy a new one.
AE-1 is not recommended because the electronic failure rate is relatively high, but you are holding a ticking time bomb that may explode at any time, which is definitely not the solution.
I'm not going to talk about the X700 either. It's a very well-behaved and entry-level camera.
Both FM2,FE2 and FM3A are popular manual SLRs of Nikon, among which FM2 has the longest production time, the largest output, the largest number of users, reliable performance and easy operation. In the past, many university photography departments designated this camera when they studied photography. Even in the film age, referrals took serious photos, it was to buy FM2. After China's reform and opening up, especially after the market economic reform in the 1990s, ordinary people also had some money in their pockets. At that time, many enthusiasts smashed pots and sold iron just to own a Nikon FM2.
FM2 as a purely mechanical camera, most of them also lack basic maintenance, but the maintenance of FM2 can still be found, and the price is not very expensive.
By contrast, FE2 doesn't know much about it, and official accounts have introduced it many times before. FE2 is an electronic camera with automatic exposure function, while FM2 does not have automatic exposure function. In addition to this feature, FE2 is no different from FM2 in use and looks like it.
The price of the FE2 is a little cheaper than that of the FM2.
FM3A is Nikon's last manual SLR, which brings together the FE and FM series. Others say that FM3A is the original idea of F3.
The shutter of FM3A can be controlled electronically and mechanically, and can be used in full gear without electricity, while the general electronic machine can only use life-saving gear when there is no power. The semi-mechanical shutter can only use a limited gear when there is no power.
Of course, FM3A is expensive.
Let's talk about the camera.
Today's electronic heads are not compatible with old manual cameras, so you still have to buy them. The most mindless way to buy it is to buy a few hundred yuan and plug it in for a 50-pound 1.4. Indeed, Nikon, Pentax and Canon all have 1.2 headers, but you are not advised to be curious here, because 1.2 headers are very large and heavy, and you can't control 1.2 aperture for beginners.
And try not to buy zoom lenses. In the film era, the optical ability of each school is not very strong, and the zoom lens basically has no picture quality at all, and it is all functional.
In addition, don't buy a pair of factory lenses, and don't buy Zeiss, just play with the original factory first.
Because playing behind the film is nothing more than not playing and going deep, if you go deeper, then the lens at home will certainly pile up more and more, so you can play shallow at the beginning.
Let's talk about some things it's best not to do. Of course, this is mainly my personal experience.
The first is that the novice's first camera had better not buy 120 cameras, especially the Fuji GA series of stupid machines, that camera is really stupid. 120 cameras in the past are mainly professional cameras, and basically manual operation, many professional 120 cameras set up a lot of error-proof organs, generally novice hands do not know how to use. It is best to play more than 135, interested in film, in-depth understanding, and then experience the charm of 120.
The second is that beginners had better not buy electronic machines. The cameras made here are pure electronic cameras with autofocus. First of all, compared to the top electronic machines such as EOS-1V and Nikon F6, you will feel that they are no different from digital ones, and they shoot so fast that they will disappear in one roll. As for the classic Nikon F100 camera, it is mainly because of the high failure rate. The common fault of many electronic machines is that the automatic passing of the film is too strong to break the film and scrap a whole roll directly. It can be remedied, but the novice probably doesn't know what to do. )
The third is that beginners do not recommend Leica. Many films fall into the hole just to play with Leica cameras, especially Leica M cameras. Leica M camera is a paraxial camera, it needs a process to use it well and accurately, in the early use, you don't have much taste, so you can't get out of focus. In fact, the overall operation of Leica M is similar to that of Nikon FM2, but the focus is different, one is SLR direct focus, the other is paraxial ranging focus, such as shutter speed adjustment, aperture adjustment, over film, rewind film, etc., gesture habits are similar.
If the first camera must go to Leica, you should also buy the M6, MP7, MP7, M6, MP7, M7, M7 and M7. Old Leica, such as M3M M2, were operated more than half a century ago, and it would be troublesome for beginners to take pictures. (in fact, Leica is very fast when it is skillfully used.)
