According to Twitter user Derrick, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 sells for $160 each, which is much higher than Qualcomm customers are willing to pay, because it means flagship smartphone makers must raise the price of their devices to make a reasonable profit. The Nikkei News previously reported that Apple's A16 bionic chip costs only $110 each, and although it is more than twice as expensive as the A15 bionic chip, it is still $50 cheaper than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 offer.

It is important to note, however, that Apple developed the A16 bionic chip for its own products, not to sell it to other device manufacturers. Assuming Apple and Android reach some kind of agreement to provide them with A16 bionic chips, the price may be higher than that of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Judging from the price of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Qualcomm is likely to charge a higher price for Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, especially given that it is expected to be manufactured using TSMC's more advanced N4P process and is rumored to provide higher performance without sacrificing power consumption. This year, Samsung's Galaxy S23 series all use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, which is "tailor-made for Galaxy", which means Samsung has to pay a high chip price to Qualcomm, which may be one of the reasons why Samsung has repeatedly reported the development of Exynos 2400 chips.
