The official officially issued a notice for public solicitation of the "notice of the State Radio Office on the approval of technical requirements and testing methods for new models of wireless LAN equipment using IEEE 802.11be technical standards (draft for soliciting opinions)."

The draft for soliciting opinions points out that in order to guide the development of the wireless LAN industry, standardize the type approval of radio transmitting equipment for wireless LAN equipment (hereinafter referred to as model approval), and promote the compatibility and sharing of wireless LAN with 5G, Beidou, car networking and other services, it is proposed to add relevant technical requirements and test methods to wireless LAN equipment using IEEE 802.11be technology standards in the model approval test.

CTOnews.com learned from the draft that Wi-Fi 7 devices will be required to test multilink operation (MLO) characteristics with a frequency range of 2400-2483.5MHz, 5150-5350MHz and 5725-5850MHz, which can increase throughput through chip-level multiplex connections, make the network faster and avoid stutters.

The test of the Wi-Fi 7 device also introduced 4096-QAM to increase the carrying capacity of each network transmission from 10 bits to 12 bits, which is about 20% higher than the throughput performance of Wi-Fi 6.

In fact, many phones and routers have announced support for Wi-Fi 7 as a selling point, such as the Xiaomi 13 series, which claims to download 1GB movies in only 2.9 seconds.

In addition, Huawei tested the deployment of Wi-Fi 7 AP in the Network and Information Center of Southeast University in April, and the single terminal rate of Wi-Fi 7 was higher than 4.3Gbps.
