This problem has existed since the release of mobile phones, and some people call it the "banana blur (banana blur)" problem.

According to the latest information found by Reddit netizens, Samsung officials have now acknowledged the problem and said they are working to solve it.

Users report that photos taken with Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 + sometimes appear permanently blurred in certain areas, especially in close-ups.

Samsung said at its Polish forum that this is due to the larger aperture of the main camera, shallow depth-of-field focus will make the background of the photo look a little blurry, and engineers are working to solve the problem, which is expected to be alleviated by future updates.

Samsung also offers two temporary solutions to the problem, which CTOnews.com summarizes as follows:

Try to take a picture from a farther place. If the object is about 30 centimeters away, please move your hand back.

Try to hold the phone vertically to take a picture. If you hold the phone horizontally or obliquely, the background may appear blurred.

Samsung also said that if users take close-up photos with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, the camera will automatically switch to a wide-angle lens and activate the focus intensifier to prevent blurring. However, if the user is in high-resolution mode, the focus intensifier is not supported, which may also blur the background of the close-up.
