Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to the CTOnews.com netizen Brother Black fly's left hand, rain and snow, Hello _ rabbit, Xiao Zhan cut, Mr. Aviation's clue delivery! CTOnews.com, June 2, according to the Yomiuri Shimbun, the Japanese government has decided to introduce new regulations on the operating services of large IT companies, and will strive to submit a bill to Congress as early as next year according to Japanese legislation. The new rules will require Apple to open third-party app stores to iOS and prohibit Google from favouring its own services in search results.

According to a previous meeting, Japan's digital market competition headquarters plans to prepare a final report by the end of June and determine the direction of the new rules. The new rules will be the second round of regulations for large IT companies after the Digital platform Trading Transparency Act, which came into force in 2021, which requires large IT companies to disclose information such as transaction conditions.

At present, the operating systems of Apple and Google share the Japanese mobile phone market almost equally, so companies that do business must abide by the rules laid down by the two companies.

CTOnews.com has previously reported that Apple currently forbids the use of app stores other than its own App Store on the iPhone, a move that has been widely criticized because there is no competition and companies that develop and operate apps have to pay high fees.

The new rules will allow other companies' app stores to access iOS systems, and IT giants such as Microsoft and Japan's major telecom companies are expected to be the first to deploy their own app stores on iOS. The Japanese government says the aim is to encourage competition and lighten the burden on consumers by reducing the fees to be paid.

In addition, Apple and Google force developers to use their own payment systems and restrict other payment systems, and the Japanese government also plans to ban such enforcement.

Another concern is Google's "self-preferential treatment", such as giving preferential treatment to its own apps on devices that use its own Android system, and displaying its own services such as Google Maps at the top of search results. The Japanese government's current plan is to introduce new methods to make it easier for users to access or choose other services.
