CTOnews.com, June 2, according to a list published by the United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple recently obtained a new patent numbered US 20230168711 A1 to design an off-screen Face ID for iPhone and iPad.

The patent, called "Electronic device with off-screen camera", shows the technology patent that hides components such as front cameras and light sensors at the bottom of the screen.

CTOnews.com attached a sketch of the patent-related design as follows, figure 2 shows the current iPhone punched design, and figure 3 shows the future iPhone design, with the TrueDepth camera system hidden under the screen.

Components such as the front camera can be installed at the bottom of the screen, and the light can penetrate the surface of the screen through multiple apertures, reach the front camera, and finally transmit and generate pictures.

The functional block diagram of the device (# 1200) is shown in fig. 12 below, including a recovery optical device # 1220 for reducing image distortion caused by the display # 1210.
