CTOnews.com June 1, Microsoft Teams 2.0 product owner Anupam Pattnaik said in a recent Petri's UnplugIT podcast that he plans to use Teams 2.0 by default on Win10 and Win11 platforms by the end of 2023.

CTOnews.com translated part of Pattnaik's podcast as follows:

At present, on Win10 and Win11 platforms, because Teams 2.0 is not perfect and has all the functions, the classic version of Teams is still the default processing application.

However, that will change by the end of this year, and we are confident that Teams 2.0 will be fully functional and used as the default version by the end of 2023.

We plan to launch a preview version of Teams 2.0 to Mac, VDI and web users by the end of this year, and further extend it to other customer groups such as education and the government.

The new version of Teams promises to install three times faster, start up twice as fast, and switch between chat and channels 1.7 times faster. Joining the meeting should also be twice as fast; memory footprint should be reduced by 50%, and disk space by 70%.
