CTOnews.com, May 31, Sven Schneider, chief financial officer of German chipmaker Infineon, told Focus Money magazine that Infineon is looking for small and medium-sized acquisitions worth no more than 3 billion euros (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 22.8 billion yuan), which will be well suited to the company's business portfolio.

"our goal now is to make small and medium-sized acquisitions in order to selectively strengthen ourselves in areas where we can be better," Schneider said.

He said the size of his acquisition could be between 1 billion and 3 billion euros, adding that "liquidity is not a problem" and "We have nearly 3.5 billion euros of liquidity." He also points out that acquisitions will be made only if they are in line with the company's strategic, financial and cultural mix.

Infineon Technology Co., Ltd. is a semiconductor solutions company headquartered in New Beeberg, Bavaria, Germany, with microprocessors, LED drivers, sensors, automotive integrated circuits and power management chips and other products.

Infineon, formerly known as Siemens Semiconductor, a subsidiary of Siemens Group, was independent in 1999 and listed in 2000. The Chinese name was once known as Yiheng Technology, and it has been named since 2002. Its wireless solutions division was sold to Intel in August 2010.
