Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com May 31, Weigang unveiled the world's first DDR5 memory that officially supports Intel's 14-generation cool platform at the Computex 2023 Taipei computer Show.
Of course, all the DDR5 memory on the market today should be able to support Intel's next generation of products, but no manufacturer has publicly mentioned what kind of memory speed the 14-generation cool series processors support by default.
Judging from the product specifications given by Weigang, the 14-generation cool series mentioned here is likely to be Raptor Lake Refresh rather than Meteor Lake (CTOnews.com Note: current revelations indicate that both belong to 14-generation processors).
So far, we haven't seen any revelations about the support of the Raptor Lake Refresh memory specification, but Weigang shows that their DDR5 6400 CKD DIMM memory is supported by the 1.1V low voltage support of the 14th generation Coolidge platform, which means that DDR5 6400 may be the new default speed.
Let's first review the Intel platform's support for DDR5 memory. First of all, Intel supports DDR5-4800 memory for the first time through the first-generation LGA1700 platform codenamed "Alder Lake", and stronger overclocking performance can be achieved with the Z690 motherboard.
With Intel introducing the 13-generation Core "Raptor Lake" series of processors, we can already see support for the default frequencies of DDR5 5600 and DDR4 3200. Later, Intel and board manufacturers enabled the support of non-binary memory, thus realizing the support of 24GB / 48GB and 96GB memory.
It has also been revealed that Intel will launch the Meteor Lake-S processor in the first half of 2024, and the basic frequency support of MTL-S can reach DDR5-6400, which we think will also be supported by Raptor Lake Refresh, which is also a 14-generation processor.
Whistleblower @ SquashBionic said: currently, MTL-S (6x8) supports 5600 MT / s, while MTL-S (6x16) supports 6400 MT / s, but later there is news that the MTL-S (6x8) chip has been cancelled or renamed, so it seems that DDR5-6400 will be the basic memory specification of the 14th generation CPU.
