CTOnews.com, May 31, according to the latest report released by Wood Mackenzie, global orders for wind turbines set a new record in the first quarter of 2023, generating 23.5 GW of electricity, an increase of 27% over the same period last year.

China's wind power volume in the first quarter was 15.2 GW, accounting for 65 percent, setting a new record for the first quarter of the year. Latin America reached 1.7 GW; and the United States reached 1.8 GW, compared with only 0.8 GW in the first quarter of 2022, and exceeded the total power generation in the first half of 2022.

Global orders for wind turbines reached $15.2 billion in the first quarter of 2023 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 107.616 billion yuan), an increase of $3 billion from last year.

Luke Lewandowski, director of research at Wood Mackenzie, said: "China remains the main driver of global wind power, and this trend will continue for the foreseeable future."
