CTOnews.com5, March 31, according to DigitimesAsia, Jerry Yu, senior vice president and general manager of MediaTek's CCM department, said yesterday that MediaTek plans to launch its first 3nm car chip next year and produce as early as 2025.

The 3nm in-car chip is expected to be produced by TSMC. According to previous T Kebang reports, MediaTek had planned to start selling TSMC's 3nm chip manufacturing process next year, and is expected to adopt N3E solution in December this year.

"MediaTek has been exploring the field of on-board chips for a long time and has accumulated a wealth of experience and technical reserves," Jerry Yu said. "it will be committed to providing advanced solutions for automakers in the future."

In addition, CTOnews.com noted that on May 29, Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun and MediaTek CEO Tsai Lixing announced a partnership at the Taipei International computer Show 2023 to jointly develop an automotive SoC integrated with Nvidia GPU Core (chiplet), which can achieve core interconnection and will provide a complete AI smart cockpit solution for software-defined vehicles.

Cai Lixing has previously said that MediaTek will launch a "Dimensity Auto" car platform and will integrate Nvidia AI and GPU IP. MediaTek and Nvidia will also jointly launch a comprehensive AI intelligent cockpit solution with pre-installed software technologies such as Nvidia DriveOS, Drive IX, CUDA and TensorRT.
