Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens for the delivery of clues on the way! CTOnews.com, May 30 (Xinhua)-- the popularity of electric vehicles has led to a downturn in fuel vehicle sales in China's domestic market, and Mitsubishi Motors announced that it would stop production of new cars in China between March and May this year, according to the Yomiuri Shimbun in Japan. Now, Mitsubishi Motors plans to extend the shutdown to six months later, the news has been confirmed by a number of people, and the date of resumption of production has not yet been set.

Mitsubishi Motors currently produces SUV models such as Outlander at a factory in Hunan, a joint venture between Mitsubishi and GAC. However, Mitsubishi sold about 31800 cars in China in fiscal year 2022, halving from the previous year. Although Mitsubishi launched its new Outlander in the Chinese market in December last year, sales have been lower than expected.

Japanese cars are being continuously impacted by new energy vehicles in the domestic market. In addition to Mitsubishi, domestic sales of Mazda also fell by nearly half in fiscal 2022, while daily production fell 27%.

According to previous reports from CTOnews.com, Mitsubishi Motors has planned to invest 1.4 trillion yen (currently about 70.56 billion yuan) in R & D and production of electric vehicles (EV) and hybrid electric vehicles (HV) by fiscal year 2030 to cope with increasing competitive pressure from Chinese and European manufacturers in this field.
