CTOnews.com, May 30 (Xinhua)-- Howell Group today announced the launch of a new image sensor for notebook / tablet computers, the OV02E.

According to reports, OV02E is a 1080p full high definition (FHD) image sensor with interlaced high dynamic range (HDR). It is suitable for devices with thin frame design, including mainstream and high-end notebooks, tablets and Internet of things devices.

The OV02E, measuring 7.3 inches in size, supports the use of artificial intelligence (AI) chips and claims to sense the presence of the user in ultra-low power normally open mode, thereby extending battery life in portable devices.

The OV02E sensor has 1.12micron backlit (BSI) pixels and, based on the Howie PureCel Plus architecture, can achieve 2 megapixel full HD 1080p video (60 frames per second). It supports multi-camera synchronization and can be used in machine vision and Internet of things applications that require in-depth inspection. The normally open function of the OV02E has an ultra-low power consumption state and can be used with the mobile industry processor interface (MIPI) and serial peripheral interface (SPI).

CTOnews.com learned from Howe officials that OV02E is now ready for mass production in the fourth quarter of 2023.
