Wang Weibao, an expert with rich experience in self-driving, once worked as the head of computer vision technology at Apple and founded medical artificial intelligence company Singularity.AI,2020 in 2018 as chief technology officer of Neolithic unmanned vehicles. In August 2021, he joined Jidu Automobile, co-founded by Baidu and Geely, in charge of smart driving.

At present, the whereabouts of Wang Weibao and the reasons for his departure are not clear.

Jidu Motors is an emerging smart car company, founded in March 2021, with Baidu and Geely holding 55% and 45%, respectively. The first model of Jidu Motors is expected to begin delivery in the third quarter of 2023. However, CTOnews.com noted that Jidu did not participate in the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show.
