Arm is committed to bringing an extraordinary visual experience to the market with the launch of its new flagship GPU product Immortalis-G715 in 2022, and in conjunction with MediaTek achieved this promise by adopting TCS22's Tianji 9200 mobile chipset, which is now used in flagship OPPO and vivo smartphones with high running scores.
The latest GPU product launched by Arm this year incorporates the new fifth-generation GPU architecture, which is Arm's most efficient GPU architecture to date, redefining some of the graphics pipes to optimize memory bandwidth to support next-generation games and real-time 3D applications with high geometric loads on mobile devices, while delivering a smoother gaming experience comparable to PC and game consoles. Delayed vertex shading (Deferred Vertex Shading, DVS) is a new graphics feature introduced in the fifth generation GPU architecture that redefines data flow and helps partners expand the number of cores to achieve higher levels of performance. The advantages of DVS have been reflected in many popular games, including "original God" and "Fortnite".
The new Arm Immortalis-G720 is currently Arm's best performance and energy efficiency GPU. Compared with the previous generation products, its performance and energy efficiency have been improved by 15% respectively, and the system-level efficiency has jumped by 40%, resulting in higher quality graphics rendering and more immersive visual experience.
In addition to Immortalis-G720, Arm also launched new Arm Mali ™- G720 and Mali-G620, which aim to quickly push high-end mobile graphics features to a wider consumer end market.
Leading CPU performance helps build intelligent AI
As part of TCS23, the new Armv9 Cortex ®CPU computing cluster demonstrates Arm's strong commitment to providing leading CPU performance. The cluster has achieved two-digit performance enhancement for three consecutive years, and its efficiency has also been significantly improved.
As the fourth-generation Cortex-X kernel, the new Arm Cortex-X4 is a key component of the high-performance cluster, which can break the performance limit of flagship smartphones. Cortex-X4 is the fastest CPU ever built by Arm, with a 15 per cent improvement in performance compared to Cortex-X3. At the same time, a new high-energy-efficient micro-architecture based on the same process can reduce power consumption by up to 40%. This improvement in performance and efficiency can take the device experience (such as UI responsiveness and application startup time) to a new level and make it possible to implement applications for the next generation of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Arm's leading CPU performance also extends to its new size cores, namely Arm Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A520. Cortex-A720 is the mainstream CPU IP in the industry, and as the core force of the new CPU cluster, it can improve continuous performance. Cortex-A520 is the most efficient core of Arm at present. These new CPU designs achieve 20 per cent energy efficiency gains over previous generations, benefiting use cases such as AAA-level games, round-the-clock productivity, and back-office tasks.
The closer combination of process technology and computing power is the key to achieve the highest performance and most efficient design. In the new generation of CPU design, Arm successfully completed the industry's first Cortex-X4 streaming in the TSMC N3E process, further deepening the long-term partnership between the two sides. This collaboration also ensures that the Arm ecosystem is ready to take full advantage of the power, performance, and area (PPA) benefits of Arm processor technology after streaming is completed.
Arm's new CPU cluster provides the performance and efficiency required by partners. Among them, DSU-120 is designed to meet the demanding multithreaded usage scenarios, supporting a wide range of devices from wearable devices to smartphones and laptops, making the new CPU cluster perfect.
