Samsung is now planning to develop chips for XR devices.

Samsung's subsidiary System LSI, which designs Exynos processors and ISOCELL camera sensors, has taken the first step in making processors for XR devices. Samsung System LSI plans to enter the XR chip market because more companies will start launching XR devices after the launch of Apple and Samsung's XR Touxian next year. Samsung plans to compete with Google and Qualcomm, according to a report from KEDGlobal.

Samsung will adapt XR devices by designing entirely new chips or modifying existing chips, which are used to run operating systems and applications, calculate data from sensors, and track users' movements. XR devices can create real-time translation languages, immersive meetings and navigation with rich data on top of reality.

According to the Counterpoint Research report, annual sales of XR devices will exceed 110 million units by 2025, up from the current 18 million units per year; by 2025, sales of the entire XR device market are expected to reach $50.9 billion (CTOnews.com Note: about 359.863 billion yuan currently), up from $13.9 billion in 2022 (about 98.273 billion yuan today). Samsung's MX (mobile experience) division has partnered with Google (operating system) and Qualcomm (processor) to develop its first XR headset.
