CTOnews.com, May 29 / PRNewswire-Asianet /-- A new app called FeaturePrint has been launched by foreign manufacturers, which claims to be able to identify whether an item is a fake by taking a picture of it with a mobile phone. And support any item identification, from gears and circuit boards to watches and collectibles.

The app, developed by Alitheon, uses artificial intelligence technology to transform the details of an object's surface into unique mathematical features. Alitheon says that since even items from the same production line will not be exactly the same, FeaturePrint can easily distinguish between genuine and fake products. This app does not need to use bar codes, QR codes, radio frequency identification and other ways to identify items, but directly let the items become their own ID cards.

However, CTOnews.com noted that FeaturePrint has a big limitation. It does not actively judge whether an item is a fake, but requires that the real thing be registered in the system in advance before it can be compared. At present, FeaturePrint is not on the smartphone app store, but as a business-to-business solution, working directly with customers. It is reported that FAST Sneaks and the London Gold and Silver Market Association are already using the app, and Alitheon has not announced the price or how to use the app.

Alitheon says the technology is of great significance in areas such as art and auction houses, reducing the risk of fraud and enhancing trust between buyers and sellers.
