The Shenzhou 16 flight crew is composed of astronauts Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhu and Gui Haichao, with Jing Haipeng as commander.

Among the three astronauts, Jing Haipeng is a veteran who has been selected into the Shenzhou VII, Shenzhou 9, and Shenzhou 11 crew. According to the CCTV news, space pilot Jing Haipeng and space flight engineer Zhu Yangzhu come from the astronaut brigade, who are mainly responsible for directly operating and managing the spacecraft, as well as carrying out related technical tests; load expert Gui Haichao is a professor at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, who is mainly responsible for the on-orbit operation of space science experimental loads, and has received professional training and rich operation experience in science, space engineering and other fields.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, Shenzhou-16 is the 16th spacecraft in China's manned space program and the first of a new batch of six manned spacecraft. Compared with the previous batch, the new batch of Shenzhou spacecraft has mainly been adjusted in two aspects:

First, the localization rate of components has been greatly improved, which enhances the self-controllable ability of core components.

The second is to improve the instrument panel, the man-machine interface in the cabin is more friendly and user-friendly, the overall appearance is more beautiful, more modern, and more suitable for the operation of astronauts.

After the Shenzhou 16 spacecraft is in place, the Chinese space station will form the main third cabin as the skeleton, and the "Shenzhou 15", "Shenzhou 16" and "Tianzhou 6" cargo spacecraft will be docked at the forward, radial and backward ports of the "Tianhe" core module, respectively. this is the 24th configuration since the establishment of the space station, and its configuration is similar to that of Shenzhou 14 and Shenzhou 15 in orbit. The mass of the assembly in orbit will exceed 100 tons.
