CTOnews.com, May 29 (Xinhua)-- chip designer Nvidia will benefit hugely from the growth of artificial intelligence, according to a new report from JPMorgan Chase. Nvidia reported bright results for the first quarter of 2024 earlier this week, and its current-quarter earnings expectations far exceeded analysts' expectations.

On that basis, JPMorgan has made some new predictions that Nvidia will gain 60 per cent of the artificial intelligence market this year, mainly from its graphics processing units (GPU) and network interconnection products. In second place is Broadcom, whose application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) is expected to account for 13% of revenue. TSMC ranks 17th, accounting for 3 per cent of its revenue.

CTOnews.com notes that Intel and AMD are also on the list, but their percentage of revenue is negligible, less than 1 per cent. Intel is expected to provide artificial intelligence server CPU, while AMD is expected to provide servers CPU and GPU.

On the other hand, in the cloud computing market, KeyBanc data show that AMD continues to lead Intel in cloud instance growth, but still lags far behind Intel in terms of market share. AMD's market share grew by an astonishing 77 per cent year-on-year in April and 3 per cent month-on-month, according to its data. By contrast, Intel's monthly growth was flat, while annual growth was more modest, at 13 per cent. Driven by Ampere products, Nvidia's market share grew 28 per cent year-on-year and 4 per cent month-on-month.

Despite AMD's strong growth in market share, Intel still dominates the cloud market, with more than half of the market share, AMD still in second place and Nvidia in the distant third place. KeyBanc is also optimistic about AMD's data center outlook this year, with an analyst report earlier this year outlining that the company is likely to grow 8 per cent in the server market this year and expects to reach 30 per cent market share by the end of the year.
