CTOnews.com, May 28 (Xinhua)-- American workers are worried about the use of artificial intelligence in the workplace, especially if it may lead to a drop in wages, a new survey has found.

The survey, commissioned by Checkr, a job screening service, sampled 3000 working American workers from April 27 to 28, 2023 through the survey platform Pollfish. The survey covered the same number of baby boomers, Generation X, Millennium and Generation Z.

According to the survey, 79% of American workers worry that artificial intelligence will lead to pay cuts in their jobs, including 82% of millennials and 76% of generation Z and a similar proportion of other generations. In addition, 78% of workers are unsure whether artificial intelligence will lead to a drop in wages nationwide.

In addition, CTOnews.com notes that 74 per cent of workers believe that the use of artificial intelligence in the workplace could cost them their jobs, while the same number believe that layoffs caused by artificial intelligence will occur in the next six months to two years.

Although some people worry that artificial intelligence will take away their jobs, many workers expect it to lighten their workload. More than half of the workers said they would accept a pay cut if artificial intelligence could enable them to work four days. Further, 86% of workers said they were willing to cut their wages in order to do less if artificial intelligence could help them do all the work. Millennials, Generation X and baby boomers are willing to accept a 10% pay cut, while Generation Z says they can take a 15% pay cut.
