Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula for clue delivery! CTOnews.com After two years of internal testing, Microsoft launched a public preview of Azure Linux in October 2022 and publicly launched its distribution this week. Azure Linux is an open-source container hosting operating system (OS) for Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS) that is now universally available.
Azure Linux is Microsoft's CBL-Mariner Linux distribution that supports the container hosting operating system as AKS and is currently in use with Xbox, Playfab, Minecraft and more than 100 Azure services.
Jim Perrin, principal project manager for Microsoft Azure Linux, said Microsoft started CBL-Mariner because it needed an internal Linux distribution and a consistent platform to support the myriad workloads engineers run on Azure, which can be deployed in the cloud and run multiple containers.
Users can now deploy Azure Linux as a node pool host operating system in an AKS cluster and build apps on top of preferred containers, CTOnews.com you might want to try.
Microsoft is now announcing the expansion of AKS container hosting to all AKS customers. Azure Linux provides better performance as an AKS host operating system, improves the security posture of applications running on AKS clusters, and has been optimized for running in Azure.
Azure Linux is optimized for AKS as a container-hosting operating system with a smaller mirror size, presents a smaller attack surface, and relies on the same software supply chain used by Microsoft's internal engineering teams and services.
In addition, AKS on Azure Stack HCI and AKS on Windows Server also have the same container hosting, providing consistency and simplified management in the cloud and at the edge.
Azure Container Apps is a fully managed Kubernetes-based application platform for building modern serverless applications and modeled on the microservices architecture model. The work of Azure Container applications, now in preview, will encapsulate all ad hoc tasks that need to be run asynchronously and executed to completion, such as data processing, data migration, repetitive tasks, such as daily sales profiles, etc. Work can be scheduled, event-driven, or run on demand.
These new features in Azure Container apps will also enable smaller executables in complex jobs to run in parallel, making it easier for unattended batch jobs to run alongside core business logic. Three types of jobs that can be configured in Azure container applications include:
On-demand jobs: Single-purpose API calls, driven by users or code.
Scheduled work: Long-running tasks that are triggered and completed according to the scheduler.
Event-driven work: Resource intensive tasks triggered by events can now be computationally optimized for potential savings by using optimized instance configurations based on Kubernetes 'Event Driven AutoScaler (KEDA).
