According to momomo_us, Asustek recently quietly launched three new Prime H510 motherboards. Although Asustek advertised the three motherboards as the H510, they still used the previous H470 chipset and LGA1200 platform.

In fact, it is nothing new for manufacturers to renovate their old products, and the words they have to say can be traced back to a long time ago.

Sometimes, some products consider a specific chipset at the beginning of their design, but as this particular chipset has reached an end-of-life (EOL) state, and the manufacturer has to upgrade to the new platform, there may be excess inventory of the old chipset, resulting in the manufacturer having to clean it up in some way.

In particular, unless there are special needs, Intel will not update all generations of H-series chipsets, such as the latest Intel 700 series chipsets and the 13th generation Raptor Lake processors. Intel has already launched Z790, H770 and B760, but it may never release H710 chipsets, because this is not important. OEM manufacturers can upgrade H610 motherboards to support Raptor Lake. It is possible that the chipset will not be upgraded again until the next generation of Raptor Lake Refresh.

Back to the Asustek motherboard, although the H510 chipset is relatively new, the H470 chipset can bring more superior features, more luxurious heat dissipation and extended performance. For example, H470 supports more single-channel memory and RAID, and provides more PCIe channels, USB interfaces, and SATA III interfaces.

In fact, some manufacturers will also introduce old motherboards based on new platforms, such as H410M S2 V3 or H410M DS2V V3, for example, some of the H510 chipsets will be implanted into the H410 motherboard. As a result, both operations are beneficial to users, because H510 and H410 both cost $28 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about RMB 198) and provide almost the same functionality, except that H510 supports Wi-Fi 6, while H410 supports Intel VT-d.
