Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, May 26 / PRNewswire-Asianet /-- when NASA's Voyager 2 flew by Uranus decades ago, it found a vortex around its South Pole.
Astronomers carried out relevant research at that time and found that the temperature had not changed, so Uranus's atmosphere was thought to be quite inert.
According to a recent paper published in Geophysical Research Letters, astronomers believe that there are polar vortices that revolve around the North Pole of Uranus.
This type of cyclone has been observed on almost all planets except Mercury in the current exploration of the solar system. NASA explained that Mercury does not have a "substantial" atmosphere, so it is impossible to form a vortex.
The new study was carried out using a large array in New Mexico, and researchers were able to delve deeper into what was going on beneath the planetary clouds.
Astronomers hope to determine the cause of Uranus's vortex, which is warmer and drier than the air found around the atmosphere of the icy giant planet. CTOnews.com is attaching a link to the paper. Interested users can click below to jump to read.
