CTOnews.com, May 26 (Xinhua)-- Fisker has announced that the mass production of its second electric vehicle, the Fisker Pear, will be postponed from 2024 to 2025, according to Reuters. In addition, due to the cost of the special process, the starting price will be increased from US $29900 to US $35000 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about RMB 248000).

▲ source: Fisker Reuters pointed out that Pear's special steel chassis can reduce the use of components by 1/4, but this requires a special process of high-strength steel and single stamping. This process has brought a greater workload, far more than Fisker expected.

Fisker CEO Henrik Fisker said that Fisker does not intend to follow Tesla's practice of using large aluminum castings to reduce costs, because insurance companies will require scrapped vehicles to avoid high aluminum body maintenance hours after traffic accidents. Fisker believes that using steel single stamping to build a car will help to reduce the cost of later maintenance and use of the vehicle.

CTOnews.com has previously reported that Fisker delivered its first Fisker Ocean to Danish users earlier this month. Fisker said it also lowered its production target for this year from 42400 to 32000-36000, and expects to produce no more than 1700 Fisker Ocean in the second quarter.
