Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, May 26 (Xinhua)-- in a report released on May 23, Payhead Network said that the iPhone 15 series released by Apple this fall will be available for 15W wireless fast charging. Its brother website ChargerLAB shared more details in a report released today.

The iPhone has a wireless charging power of 7.5W and 15W, and only products integrated with Apple's official MagSafe module can provide 15W wireless charging. On the basis of the existing MFi, Apple also launched and promoted the "MFM" accessories certification system, severely restricting MagSafe accessories.

Apple will support both Qi2 and MagSafe wireless charging protocols in the iPhone 15 series, and recommend Qi2 as an iPhone-compatible wireless charging technology.

The media learned from supply chain sources that the wholesale price of Apple's MagSafe module is about $16 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 113 yuan), thus pushing up the cost and price of accessories.

The price of the new Qi2 wireless charging module is less than 1/3 of that of Apple's MagSafe module, and manufacturers are not required to join MFi members. This means that more manufacturers will introduce cheaper and faster wireless charging accessories for iPhone.

All iPhone that support wireless charging are compatible with the Qi2 standard, but Apple has not yet released a specific speed, but it is certain that it will be faster than the current 7.5W.

Not only Apple devices, but Android phones can also use this technology to accelerate the popularity of wireless charging.

ChargerLAB also said that the Qi2 standard will have the following highlights:

Added on-chip authentication (on-chip authentication). In addition to the main controller, the transmitter (TX) needs to be equipped with a dedicated authentication chip.

Need to pass the Qi2 MPP test to achieve 15W wireless fast charge.

Qi2 compliance testing requires the purchase of new test equipment.

ChargerLAB also found in the report that Apple has been included in the newly released WPC Direction Committee, which shows its importance in promoting Qi2 standards.

It also indicates that Apple's accessory ecology may be more open in the future. ChargerLAB believes that the reason for Apple's strong promotion of Qi2 is that, unlike the MFi standard, both Qi2 and PD are initiated by Apple-led industry alliances, are widely used by Apple, and gradually become industry standards.

Wireless charging industries including master chips, MOSFET, MLCC, charging coils, magnets, ferrite chips, laboratories, factories, brand owners and distributors will also benefit.
