IT Home May 25 news, Microsoft has begun to push the latest feature configuration update for Windows 11 22H2 users, this version is called "Moment 3," it brings several significant feature changes, as well as those that are very popular among users and various quality improvements, you can find this update in "Optional Update."

For those unfamiliar with Moment updates, Win11's update strategy is different from Windows 10, its goal is to continuously provide users with "creative updates," and this frequent feature update is called "Moment" update inside Microsoft, which is different from ordinary annual updates and security preview updates.

The first "Moment" update for Windows 11 22H2 brought new features, such as tabs/tabs for File Explorer, suggested actions for Edge and other apps, and more useful features; this was followed by more convenient system tray features in Moment 2, such as drag and drop support.

In "Moment 3," Microsoft brings a different kind of notification, which now lets you quickly copy authentication (2FA) codes without having to open incoming messages, emails, or other types of notifications. The following is Microsoft's official update announcement:

Important information New features! This update adds real-time subtitles in the following languages:

Chinese (Simplified and Traditional)

French (France, Canada)

German

Italian

Japanese

Portugal (Brazil, Portugal)

Spanish

Danish

English (Irish, other English dialects)

Korean

To turn on live subtitles, use the WIN + Ctrl + L keyboard shortcut. You can also use the Quick Settings accessibility to float out of the control menu.

When you open it for the first time, Windows will ask you to download the speech recognition support you need. Speech recognition support may not be available in your preferred language, or you may want support for other languages. Voice recognition support can be downloaded from Settings> Time & Language> Language & Region.

New function! This update redesigns the in-app voice access command help page.

Each command now has descriptions and examples of its variants. The search bar allows you to quickly find commands. The new categories provide further guidance. You can view all commands from Help> or use voice to access the command "What can I say? "Note that the help page may not contain all commands. In addition, supplementary information may be inaccurate. We plan to update this content in the future.

New function! This update adds voice access command support for the following English dialects:

English (UK)

English (India)

English (new Zealand)

English (Canada)

English (Australia)

The first time you turn on Voice Access, Windows will ask you to download a voice model. A speech model matching the display language may not be found. You can still use English (US) voice access. You can always select another language from Settings> Language on the Voice Access bar.

New function! This update adds new text selection and editing voice access commands. Some examples are provided in the table.

New function! This update adds a VPN status icon (small shield) to the system tray. When you connect to a recognized VPN profile, it is displayed. The VPN icon will be overlaid with the theme color of the system on the active network connection.

New function! You can now choose to display seconds in the clock on the system tray. To enable this feature, go to the Taskbar Behaviors section in Settings> Personalization> Taskbars. You can also right-click the taskbar to quickly access taskbar settings.

New function! This update provides a copy button for quickly copying two-factor authentication (2FA) codes. This content is in the notification toast you get from apps installed on your computer or from phones linked to your computer. Please note that this feature is only available in English.

New function! This update adds access key shortcuts to the context menu of File Explorer. The access key is a keystroke shortcut. You can use the keyboard to quickly run commands in context menus. Each access key corresponds to a letter in the display name of the menu item. To try this, click a file in File Explorer, and then press the Menu key on your keyboard.

New function! This update adds multi-app booth mode, which is a lockdown feature. If you are an administrator, you can specify which apps can run on the device. Other applications will not work. It can also block certain functions. You can configure different types of access and apps to run for different users on one device. The multi-app booth mode is ideal for scenarios where multiple people use the same device. For example, front-line employees, retail personnel, education and exam-taking. Some lock customizations include:

Restrict access to Settings, except for certain pages, such as Wi-Fi and screen brightness

Show only allowed apps on Start menu

Block certain Toast and Pop-ups

Currently, multi-app booth mode can be enabled using PowerShell and WMI bridges. To learn more, see Setting up multi-app booths on Windows 11 and Assigned Access CSP. Upcoming support for Microsoft Intune, Mobile Device Management (MDM), and Provisioning Pack Configuration.

New function! This update introduces real-time kernel memory dump (LKD) collection from Task Manager. With LKD, you can collect data to troubleshoot problems while the OS continues to work. This can reduce downtime when a non-responsive program or a significant failure must be investigated. For more information, see Task Manager Live Memory Dump.

To capture LKD, go to Task Manager> Details. Right-click the System process. Select Create real-time kernel memory dump file. This captures a full real-time kernel or kernel stack memory dump. The dump will be written to a fixed location: % LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\TaskManager\LiveKernelDumps. You can also go to the Task Manager Settings page to view or edit the settings for real-time kernel memory dumps.

New function! This update replaces the setting to display touch keyboards when no keyboard is attached. These settings are located in Settings> Time & Language> Typing> Touch Keyboard. The new drop-down menu provides three options to control whether clicking on the edit control should open the touch keyboard. Options include:

Never: Cancels touch keyboards even if no hardware keyboard is attached.

When no keyboard is attached: The touch keyboard appears only when the device is used as a tablet without a hardware keyboard.

Always: The touch keyboard is displayed even if a hardware keyboard is attached.

New function! This update enables Content Adaptive Brightness Control (CABC) to run on laptops and 2 in-1 devices. This function dims or lights up areas of the display depending on the content. It tries to strike a balance between saving battery life and providing a good visual experience. Function settings can be adjusted from Settings> Systems> Display> Brightness & Color. The drop-down menu offers three options: OFF, ALWAYS, and BATTERY ONLY. For battery-powered devices, the default is Battery Only. Since CABC must be enabled by device manufacturers, this feature may not be available on all laptops or 2 in-1 devices.

New function! This update adds USB4 hub and device settings pages. It can be found in Settings> Bluetooth & Devices> USB > USB4 hubs and devices. This new page provides information about system USB4 functionality and additional peripherals on USB4-enabled systems. This information is helpful in troubleshooting when manufacturer or system administrator support is required. Some features include:

You can view connected USB4 hubs and device trees.

Details can be copied to the clipboard to share them.

If your system does not support USB4 with Microsoft USB4 Connection Manager, this page does not appear. On systems that support USB4, you will see USB4 host routers in Device Manager.

New function! This update adds a status sensor privacy setting to Settings> Privacy & Security> Status Awareness. If your device has compatible status sensors, you can now choose which apps can access those sensors. You can also select apps that you don't have access to. Microsoft does not collect images or metadata. Device hardware processes information locally to maximize privacy.

New function! This update improves search performance in Settings.

New function! This update changes the default print screen (prt scr) key behavior. By default, pressing the Print Screen key opens the Screenshot Tool. You can turn this setting off from Settings> Accessibility> Keyboard. If you have previously changed this setting, Windows will retain your preferences.

New function! This update introduces a limit of 20 latest tabs in Settings> Multitasking. This affects the number of tabs displayed when Alt + TAB and Snap Assist are used.

New function! This update improves cloud suggestions and integrated search suggestions. This helps you easily type common simplified Chinese words using the Input Method Editor (IME). Cloud suggests adding the most relevant words from Microsoft Bing to the IME candidate window. Integrated search suggestions offer additional suggestions similar to those you see on Bing search pages. Suggestions can be inserted as text or searched directly in Bing. To turn on these features, select the V button in the upper-right corner of the IME candidate window. Then select the Open button.
