CTOnews.com, May 25, according to the latest report released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, global smartwatch shipments fell 1.5 per cent year on year in the first quarter of 2023, while the Indian market grew 121 per cent year on year.

Apple's global shipments fell 20% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2023. This is the first time in three years that its Q1 shipments have fallen below 10 million. Apple's market share fell to 26% from 32% in the first quarter of 2022.

Indian brand Fire-Boltt overtook Samsung for the first time to rank second in the global market. Compared with the previous year, its shipments increased by about three times and 57% compared with the previous quarter.

Samsung's shipments rose 15% in major markets such as north America, but declined in other markets. Its overall global shipments fell 15% year-on-year and 21% month-on-month.

Huawei is the most influential OEM in China, where shipments fell 14 per cent year-on-year, although shipments in India, Latin America and the Middle East and Africa increased, limiting the overall decline in global shipments to 9 per cent.

In terms of regional markets, India overtook North America to regain its position as a top region with 27 per cent of global smartwatch shipments.

Shipments of smartwatches in China fell 28 per cent year-on-year.
