CTOnews.com, May 25, according to CCTV, Russia successfully launched the "Progress MS-23" cargo spacecraft from the Baikonur Space launch site LC-31/6 in Kazakhstan yesterday to deliver supplies to the International Space Station. The spacecraft has docked with the International Space Station and will be in orbit for 189 days.

According to reports, the cargo ship carried about 2.5 tons of cargo for the International Space Station, including 600 kilograms of propellant, 630 kilograms of drinking water and 40 kilograms of compressed nitrogen. The remaining 1290 kg includes research equipment and tools, consumables and kits for scientific experiments, clothing, food and hygiene supplies to support the work and life of the Expedition 69 crew.

The launch is the 76th space launch in 2023, the 7th launch of Russia, the 5th launch of Soyuz 2.1 carrier rockets, the 158th launch of Soyuz 2 series rockets, and the 68th launch of Soyuz 2.1A rockets. This is also the 84th time that the Progress cargo spacecraft has delivered cargo to the International Space Station.

CTOnews.com inquiry found that Russia has completed seven space launch missions in 2023, including five Soyuz 2.1a rockets and two proton M rockets.

At present, there are eight spacecraft in orbit in space, including 4 manned spacecraft (Shenzhou 15, manned Dragon Crew-6, Ax-2, Alliance MS-23), 4 cargo spacecraft (Progress MS-22, Tianzhou 5, Tianzhou 6, Progress MS-23), and 14 people working in orbit at the same time (11 people on the International Space Station and 3 people on the Chinese Space Station).
