On May 24, at the 2023 innovative data Infrastructure Forum (IDI Forum 2023), Huawei unveiled the 2023 Olympus problem and announced the 2022 winner, aiming to inspire researchers in the global data storage industry to solve the industry's technical problems.

Technological innovation needs to go through the stages of theoretical breakthrough, technological invention, technological prototype and technological application, and depends on the cooperation of industry, university and research. Huawei has released the Olympus problem for four years in a row, drawing the direction of basic theoretical research in the global data storage field, breaking through key technical problems, accelerating the industrialization of scientific research achievements, and achieving win-win cooperation.

The team led by Professor Onur Mutlu of the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich focused on the research of data-centric deposit network fusion systems, innovated adaptive optimization algorithms and accelerated the technical iteration of storage architecture, which won the Olympus Award in 2022. At this conference, Huawei announced to the world two major problems of Olympus in 2023: one is to build a cost-effective storage technology per bit, and the other is to achieve multi-cloud-oriented data security and data services. Huawei hopes to work with academia in many directions, such as data-centric storage architecture innovation, new application-oriented data efficient use and governance technology, data resilience and active protection technology, to build a high-quality data storage system.

At the same time, Joan Serra-Sagrist à, a professor in the Department of Information and Communication Engineering of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, introduced the third Global data Compression Competition (GDCC) jointly organized by the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Huawei, calling on software engineers, researchers, students and enthusiasts around the world to actively participate in the competition. This year's data compression competition focuses on lossless compression algorithms, selecting compression ratio, compression performance and so on, setting 8 challenge topics, with a total prize of 171000 euros. Huawei is actively promoting the development of data infrastructure. Cheng Zhuo, the chief technology research expert on data storage, delivered a speech entitled "Innovation in Storage Architecture for the next Generation", introducing that as the enterprise's digital transformation accelerates, storage innovation will expand beyond the three dimensions of capacity, performance and reliability to include new dimensions of energy efficiency, resilience and multi-cloud ecology.

The development of data storage industry needs to gather industry-university-research cooperation from all walks of life. Huawei data storage will accelerate the digital, intelligent and low-carbon transformation and upgrading of society and industry through continuous cooperation with industry-university-research.
