CTOnews.com, May 24 (Xinhua) Microsoft's Surface Pro X, an ARM-based tablet, recently suffered a strange glitch: the camera suddenly stopped working, unable to make video calls, take pictures and other functions, and facial recognition was not available, forcing users to switch to PIN code to unlock the device.

When users try to open Windows Camera applications or other software, they will get a mysterious error code: 0xA00F4271 (0x80004005). CTOnews.com noted that the above error code was not clearly explained on Microsoft's official website.

Many users seek help online and find that reinstalling the camera driver will not solve the problem. Even more confusing, some users have found a seemingly absurd but effective temporary solution: change the system date to May 22, 2023. By doing so, the camera will return to normal, but this will affect other functions that depend on system time. It is not clear why this date will work, or whether Microsoft has noticed the problem and when the fix will be introduced.
