According to reports on the evening of May 24, Beijing time, Facebook parent company Meta has launched a final round of layoffs, and about 6000 people are expected to be affected, people familiar with the matter said today.

In November last year, Meta announced its first round of big players, affecting more than 11000 employees, or about 13% of its total workforce.

In March, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg (Mark Zuckerberg) announced a second round of big layoffs, which will cut about 10000 employees again.

The job cuts are part of a second round of layoffs announced in March. Zuckerberg said at the time that the second round of layoffs would be carried out in three stages and would eventually be completed by the end of May. Since then, Meta has laid off about 4000 people in its technology department. This time, Meta is expected to cut 6000 jobs.

During the outbreak, Meta's workforce expanded sharply due to a surge in consumer demand for digital services. In 2020, the first year of the outbreak, the number of Meta employees grew by 30%, and then by another 23% in 2021.

By the time layoffs began in November last year, Meta had more than 87000 employees. After these two rounds of layoffs, the total number of Meta employees will fall to about 66000.

It was reported on Monday that Meta's current round of layoffs will focus on its business units, including advertising sales, marketing and collaboration teams. Today, some Meta employees have said on platforms such as LinkedIn that they have been fired in a new round of layoffs.
