CTOnews.com May 24 news, Weigang recently launched a new PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD codenamed Project NeonStorm under the game brand XPG (Xtreme Performance Gear), as well as Legend 970 SSD.

The biggest highlight of this SSD is that it is equipped with a separate water-cooled module and two fans to minimize the impact of high-speed SSD overheating and performance degradation.

Both SSD models use the PCIe 5.0x4 interface to achieve maximum data transfer speeds on the latest AMD and Intel platforms.

The NeonStorm project adds an independent water-cooled cooling system to the Weigang M2.2280 SSD, which can directly dissipate heat to the main control and NAND chips. Aluminum heat pipes and small liquid storage tanks can be seen in the images provided.

In order to enhance heat dissipation, Weigang also installed fans at both ends, and its equipment is completely autonomous and does not need to be connected to an external LSS. The SSD provides sequential read and write speeds of 14 GB/s and 12 GB/s, respectively, Weigang said.

The Legend 970 SSD uses a traditional design, but Weigang says it can achieve a sequential read and write speed of 10 GB/s compared to the previous generation due to cast aluminum heatsink and larger fans.
