Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com May 24, Qualcomm and Microsoft announced at today's Build 2023 developer Conference that the next generation of Oryon chips and future Windows versions will no longer support 32-bit ARM applications, but only 64-bit ARM applications.
Both Qualcomm and Microsoft are actively promoting the 64-bit process. The current Windows on ARM project encourages developers to develop 64-bit applications, but still retains support for 32-bit instruction sets and applications.
Microsoft has confirmed that the next generation of Windows systems (which should be called Win12) and future Qualcomm chips will abandon support for Arm32 applications.
This will mainly affect legacy applications that are compiled for Windows 10 Mobile and have not been updated for Arm64 or x86 architecture, and in theory most users will not be affected. After upgrading to a new system or new device, if these applications are not updated, they will not be available.
Qualcomm plans to launch the Oryon processor in 2024, and CTOnews.com has previously reported that Qualcomm will use the self-developed architecture Nuvia in SM8750 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 4) as soon as possible due to the tighter ARM license.
