CTOnews.com, May 24 (Xinhua) according to the latest data released by market research firm Canalys, shipments of smartphones in Western Europe fell 13% year-on-year to 23.7 million in the first quarter of 2023. The agency believes that there are signs of recovery and expects shipments to rebound by 6% in 2024.

Although Samsung's smartphone shipments fell 16% from a year earlier, it still tops the list with a 35% market share. The best sellers are Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23 and Galaxy A14, as well as last year's A53 and A33 models.

"Samsung has shifted its focus further to the mid-and high-end markets in western Europe, driven by better revenue drivers, higher profit margins and stronger ecosystem integration potential," said Runar Bj ø rhovde, an analyst at Canalys.

Apple's smartphone shipments rose 1% year-on-year, ranking second with a 33% market share. This is mainly due to the sales of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models.

Xiaomi's smartphone shipments fell 17 per cent year-on-year, ranking third with a 15 per cent market share. Xiaomi has performed strongly in Spain, Italy and Germany, with Redmi and Redmi Note models being the best sellers.
