CTOnews.com May 23, Apple announced the establishment of a new and important partnership with Broadcom, one of its long-time supplier partners. Apple called it a "multibillion-dollar deal" and Broadcom will develop and produce some key 5G RF components in the United States.

Under the partnership agreement, Broadcom will develop and produce a range of key 5G RF components in the United States, including FBAR filters and cutting-edge wireless connection components. FBAR filters will be designed and manufactured in several U.S. manufacturing and technology centers, including Ford Collins, Colorado, where Broadcom has an important facility.

Apple says it has helped support more than 1100 jobs at Broadcom's FBAR filter manufacturing facility in Ford Collins, Colorado. The partnership with Apple will enable Broadcom to "continue to invest in key automation projects and the skills upgrading of technicians and engineers".

Apple said the investment was part of a plan announced in 2021 to invest $430 billion in the US economy over the next five years (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 3.03 trillion yuan). So far, Apple said it was "on track to achieve its goals through direct spending with US suppliers, data center investment, US capital expenditure and other domestic spending".

The agreement with Broadcom comes as Apple continues to develop its own internal technology to reduce reliance on components provided by Broadcom, such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi components. For example, Apple is reported to be developing a chip that integrates Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which could be launched as early as 2025. Apple has also been working on its own version of other iPhone components, such as radio frequency chips and wireless charging components, which are currently provided by Broadcom.
