CTOnews.com May 23 news, Square Enix studio director Naoki Yoshida recently told GQ that the continued use of numbers in the "final Fantasy" series of games may disgust players and create the illusion that they need to play previous games in order to be more deeply integrated into the new games.

Naoki Yoshida said in an interview:

Many players will regard final Fantasy as a comic book and need to read it from the beginning to know what was told in the previous game.

For example, if players want to play the upcoming final Fantasy 16, the numerical naming method may mislead players into thinking that they need to play final Fantasy 14 or previous versions in order to link up with the new game.

This is not conducive to the release and sales of the game, so we will add subtitles to the series to show that players can experience the plots of the new game without having to play the previous game.

As for whether final Fantasy 17 and final Fantasy 18 still have numbers, it will depend on who must develop the game and who is in charge of the brand, so this is their problem, not ours!
