CTOnews.com, May 23, Intel and the Japanese Institute of Physics and Chemistry RIKEN earlier announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. The two companies will cooperate in the joint development of Zettascale computing, and will use Intel's manufacturing technology and RIKEN research expertise to jointly explore next-generation computing technologies in fields including AI, high-performance computing, and quantum computers. In the memorandum of understanding, RIKEN will receive Intel's contract manufacturing services (IFS), and Intel's manufacturing department will provide it with a series of contents, such as design.

The MOU covers areas related to supercomputers and artificial intelligence, silicon-based quantum computer technology and quantum simulation technology, and includes prototype design in cooperation with Intel OEM Services. For RIKEN, partnering with Intel will gain access to and leverage its expertise in supercomputing, large-scale synchrotron radiation facilities and biological resources projects. Provide support for social change and achieve the goal of providing a technology engine for digital transformation. Intel, on the other hand, will use the research capabilities and knowledge stored by RIKEN to further promote the research of silicon-based quantum computing.
