CTOnews.com May 21 news, the latest news from the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) under the Space Department of a senior official said recently; India Moon ship 3 (Sanskrit: Sanskrit) launch mission is scheduled for the second week of July (July 9 to July 15).

Indian Lunar ship 3, the third lunar exploration mission planned by the Indian Space Research Organization, was previously scheduled for launch in 2021, but has been delayed many times. At that time, the Indian lunar ship 3 will carry scientific instruments to study the thermophysical properties of the lunar weathering layer, lunar seismicity and lunar surface plasma environment.

The Indian lunar ship 3, which consists of a propulsion module, a lander and a small lunar rover, completed vibration and acoustic environmental tests in March this year, verifying the harsh environment faced during the launch process, and the final scientific payload assembly is under way.

India's first lunar probe, Lunar ship 1, was launched in October 2008, carrying 11 scientific instruments from India, Britain and the United States. In 2018, data collected by a mineralogical plotter from NASA aboard Lunar ship 1 helped detect the presence of water ice on the moon.

The Lunar ship 2, India's second lunar probe, was launched on July 22, 2019 to land the lunar rover at the South Pole of the moon. The Lunar ship 2 orbiter successfully orbited the moon, but India's first attempt to land on the moon failed when its lander crashed on the lunar surface minutes before the expected soft landing on September 7, 2019.

Lunar ship 3 is another lunar mission to demonstrate soft landing after the Vikram lander carried by Lunar ship 2 failed due to a communication failure, and it is also India's second attempt to send a probe to the moon.

Lunar ship 3 will include a lander and a rover, because the orbiter of Lunar ship 2 is already in lunar orbit and will achieve this goal within the scheduled time. It will make the Indian Space Research Organization the fourth space agency to conduct a soft landing on the moon after the former Soviet Union, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States and the National Space Administration of China.

In December 2019, ISRO requested initial funding of 75 million euros (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 568 million yuan) for the project, of which 60 million euros were used to cover machinery, equipment and other capital expenditures, while the remaining 15 million euros were sought under income and expenditure.

K.Sivan, president of the Indian Space Research Organization, said the cost was about 6.15 billion rupees (currently about 522 million yuan), compared with the total cost of the Lunar ship 2 mission of 9.6 billion rupees (currently about 815 million yuan).
