Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, May 21, Intel is preparing for the 14th generation of Meteor Lake processors in the second half of this year.

As the first product based on Intel 4 (the former 7nm), the Meteor Lake will most likely launch on laptops, followed by a small number of desktop products, but may also be the first to launch models for desktops.

Two new laptops have appeared in the SiSoftware running score database, showing that the machine is equipped with an unknown Genuine Intel (R) 0000 chip, one of which uses a 14-core, 3.26GHz, 7x 2MB L2, 16MB L3 design, and the other is a 16-core design, which is obviously a Meteor Lake hybrid architecture processor.

The Meteor Lake will be designed with a small chip and will use the Redwood Cove performance Core (P-core) to handle heavy workloads while using the energy-efficient Cresmont efficient Core (E-core) to perform simpler tasks, maximizing performance without sacrificing power consumption.

In addition, it is possible for Meteor Lake to adopt a third type of core, the rumored LP e core. Intel patents indicate that the SoC section will contain two additional Cresmont cores, which seem to be manufactured using older process nodes.

Meteor Lake has four modules: graphics, SoC, CPU, and IOE, while the LP e core is located in the SoC layer, which is equivalent to the I / O Die (IOD) in the AMD Ryzen processor.

According to previously leaked files, Meteor Lake will support "Low-power island CPU offload", which means that the work of the LP e core may process service processes in idle or sleep mode. In other words, it will help reduce the power consumption of laptops.

Meteor Lake, like previous hybrid chips, will look good on paper due to the overall high number of cores.

The first Meteor Lake sample exposed today contains 14 cores, which may follow the 4p + 8e design, while the second Meteor Lake sample uses 16 cores, which should follow the previous 6p + 8e layout, while both ES processors contain two LP E cores, after all, the SoC part is the same.

The data show that the 14-core Meteor Lake chip has the secondary cache of 14MB and the tertiary cache of 16MB with a frequency of 3.26 GHz, which is likely to be the recently leaked Core Ultra 51003H, while the 16-core model seems to have a secondary cache of 18 MB and a tertiary cache of 24 MB, with a base frequency of 3.07 GHz and an acceleration frequency of 4.2 GHz.

The first meteor lake sample has 14 cores, which may adhere to the 4p + 8e design, while the second meteor lake sample has 16 cores, which should adhere to the 6p + 8e layout. The remaining two cores in the two engineering sample (ES) processors come from the LP e kernel. It is reported that this 14-core meteor lake chip has 14MB secondary cache and 16MB tertiary cache. The clock speed of the processor is 3.26 GHz. The processor is likely to be the recently leaked Core Ultra 51003H. On the other hand, the 16-core version seems to have a second-tier cache for 18mb and a third-level cache for 24MB. Its basic clock is 3.07 GHz and its enhanced clock is 4.2 GHz.

Unfortunately, sissoftware does not give Meteor Lake's L4 cache (ADM or Adamantine). Although Intel's patent does not specifically mention Meteor Lake, early Linux patches have indicated that Intel will provide ADM designs for this generation of 7nm processors.

It is worth mentioning that Intel will host a series of Vision 2023 regional events this month, the first of which will be held in Orlando from May 8 to 10, followed by Taipei (May 24 to May 25), Shanghai (May 30 to May 31) and Amsterdam (June 13 to June 14). Therefore, we may learn more about Meteor Lake in the coming weeks, and CTOnews.com will also bring you more reports.
