CTOnews.com, May 20 (Xinhua)-- Apple has launched a second-generation HomePod in its US renovation store today, but has not been able to place an order yet. The refurbished HomePod (2nd Gen) will be available in midnight black or white and will be sold for $249 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about RMB 1748), while the new model will cost $299, equivalent to a 17% discount.

Apple said the certified refurbished HomePods has been fully functionally tested, inspected, cleaned and repackaged, with a power cord and documentation included in the package. CTOnews.com reminds that refurbished HomePod is covered by an one-year limited warranty and is eligible for AppleCare+ services.

The second-generation HomePod, launched in January 2023, is similar in design to the full-size HomePod discontinued in 2021, but has a larger backlit touchscreen and some internal changes, such as the absence of two tweeters and two microphones.

In addition, the second-generation HomePod is equipped with a S7 chip similar to the Apple Watch Series 7 for "more advanced computing audio", a U1 chip for transmitting audio from the iPhone, and indoor temperature and humidity sensors.
