Data show that global smartphone sales fell 14% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2022. Apple's iOS outperformed the overall market, down only 12% from a year earlier, while Android was down 16% from a year earlier.

Huawei's share of the HarmonyOS system has been growing, maintaining a global market share of about 2 per cent in the first quarter of 2023 and 8 per cent in China, according to the study.

India, though a small market for Apple, is becoming more and more important, while iOS's share has been steadily growing, according to the report.
