CTOnews.com, May 20 (Xinhua)-- Blue Origin, a space company founded by Amazon founder Bezos, has won a $3.4 billion CTOnews.com contract to build a manned lunar lander for NASA, NASA director Bill Nelson announced today.

Blue Origin said it plans to work with Lockheed Martin, Boeing, spacecraft software company Draper and robotics company Astrobotic to build a lander about 16 meters high.

The CTOnews.com inquiry found that the competition was the second NASA bid for a lander after Musk's SpaceX company became the only candidate for a manned lander contract in 2021. The selection of Blue Origin also means it will face Musk SpaceX head-on.

Blue Origin is a private aerospace company headquartered in Kent, Washington, founded by Amazon founder Jeffrey Bezos in 2000. The Blue Origin space program completed its first manned flight in 2021, with four passengers crossing the Carmen line.
