CTOnews.com May 19, Kubuntu Focus M2 Gen 5 is the new Linux laptop with a 15.6in 2560 x 1440 pixel IPS LCD display with an 240Hz refresh rate and a 24-core 32-threaded Intel Core i9-13900HX chip with a choice of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 or RTX 4070 graphics cards.

The Kubuntu Focus team equipped the laptop with Kubuntu software (GNU / Linux distribution based on Ubuntu), and the new Kubuntu Focus M2 Gen 5 laptop is now on the market, starting at $1895 (currently about 13341 yuan).

In addition to the above monitors and processors, laptops are equipped with at least 16GB DDR5-4800 memory, 500GB NVMe storage and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 stand-alone GPU at the entry level.

Customers can also pay extra for up to 64GB memory and 4TB storage, or they can upgrade themselves: the system has two SODIMM slots and two M.2 2280 slots for PCIe Gen 4 SSD.

One of the most expensive upgrades is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU: choosing this option will increase the price of your laptop by $365A (CTOnews.com Note: currently about RMB 2570).

The laptop measures 358mm x 240mm x 240mm (14.1 inches x 9.5in x 1 inch), weighs 2.4kg, has an aluminum chassis and is equipped with a 80Wh battery and a 280W power supply.

The laptop has high performance but poor battery life: up to 4 hours of "moderate use" when using Intel UHD integrated graphics cards and 2.5 hours when using stand-alone GPU, with less time for resource-intensive tasks.

The laptop also has dual fans for cooling, a 2MP webcam with privacy shutter, and a set of ports, including:

The laptop is equipped with an Intel AX211 wireless card that supports Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.3. other features include a backlit keyboard with a digital keypad, a precision touchpad with a glass cover, stereo 2W speakers and a microphone array.

Kubuntu Focus M2 Gen 5 was released with Kubuntu 22.04 LTS, a combination of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS base and KDE Plasma 5.24 LTS desktop environment.
