According to an opinion poll released by Ipsos on Wednesday, more than half of Americans believe that artificial intelligence (AI) poses a threat to human beings.

The new poll shows that 61% of Americans believe that artificial intelligence poses a threat to human beings, 22% of Americans do not think so, and 17% of Americans are not sure.

The findings come as the use of artificial intelligence in education, government, healthcare and business is expanding, in part because of the explosive growth of ChatGPT, a chat robot owned by OpenAI.

Since OpenAI launched ChatGPT in November last year, Tuyuan Pexels has entered a white-hot stage in the field of generative artificial intelligence as companies such as OpenAI, Google and Microsoft compete for market dominance.

Buffett, the "god of stock", expressed his views on artificial intelligence at Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting this month, and he was worried about the rapid development of artificial intelligence.

In addition to Buffett, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Sam Altman also expressed concern about the potential dangers of AI.

Musk's concerns about artificial intelligence even led him to sign an open letter with thousands of technologists in March calling for a suspension of training of AI, which is more powerful than GPT-4, for at least six months.

In testimony to Congress on Tuesday, Altman expressed his concern about the possible abuse of artificial intelligence technology and called for regulation of the technology.

In addition to the poll released on Wednesday, a similar Ipsos survey conducted in April showed that more than 70% of Americans were worried about the possible impact of artificial intelligence on employment and society.
