Paid sharing has been launched in Latin America, New Zealand, Spain, Portugal and Canada. Netflix lost more than 1 million users in Spain after a crackdown on password sharing, Bloomberg reported.

In a letter to shareholders in April, Netflix acknowledged the "cancellation reaction" to paid sharing. However, the streaming pointed out that after the initial decline, Canadian subscribers began to add additional member accounts. Executives assured investors that the results "strengthened our confidence and convinced us that we were taking the right approach".

Paid sharing will be widely extended to the United States, the United Kingdom and other regions within the next month.
