On May 17, 2023, Solidigm, the world's leading provider of innovative NAND flash memory solutions, officially launched the Solidigm D5-P5430 to further expand its D5 product family. The new QLC SSD provides optimized support for mainstream and read-intensive workloads.

At this stage, most enterprise applications are dominated by data reading, and the D5-P5430, as a fourth generation PCIe QLC SSD, not only provides users with considerable storage density and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO), but its read performance is also comparable to the widely adopted TLC SSD.

The D5-P5430 is optimized for mainstream workloads such as email/unified communications, decision support systems, object storage, and virtual desktop infrastructure, and read-intensive workloads such as Content Delivery Network, data lakes/pipes, and video-on-demand. These workloads typically account for 80 percent or more of read operations, requiring high throughput to transfer large amounts of data.

As a direct replacement for TLC NAND-based PCIe SSDs, the D5-P5430 enables typical object storage solutions to achieve total cost of ownership reductions of up to 27%, storage density increases by 1.5x, and energy consumption decreases by 18%. In addition, Solidigm's new product can deliver up to 14% write life improvement compared to leading TLC SSDs.

With its outstanding capacity density, the D5-P5430 enables data centers to address challenges including power consumption, edge computing and infrastructure sustainability. Compared to other solutions, the D5-P5430 reduces power consumption and cooling costs and reduces the number of drives required by up to 2x.
